PurgePac® 1000

MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES

General

Proper maintenance practice will promote trouble-free operation and ensure better machine performance.

Care should be exercised during disassembly to place removed parts in clean, dry and protected locations. A high quality light oil should be applied to all parts to prevent corrosion. If machine is to be left disassembled for a period of time, openings should be protected to prevent entrance of foreign materials.

During re-assembly, all new replaced parts should be checked carefully prior to installation to ensure that they are proper for that particular location. Use proper tools and equipment to facilitate performance of fine quality work.

Bearing

All supplied bearings require lubrication at regular intervals. Main shaft bearings are spherical roller bearings and are lubricated by grease. To support thrust load, a spherical thrust bearing is placed at the lower end of the shaft right below the spherical roller bearing.

Replacement of Upper Bearing

Remove rotor and the rotor cover.
Remove the whole drive block housing from the block housing support.
Remove housing top cover, oil seal, locking washer, and bearing lock nut
The roller cage of the spherical roller bearing should be removed from the top - by using a mechanical puller to protect the outer bearing race from any damage.

Replacement of Lower Bearing

Remove driven pulley cover.
Remove bushing sleeve to free the pulley from the shaft.
Remove driven pulley.
Remove housing bottom cover, oil seal, locking washer, and bearing lock nut.
The roller cage of the spherical bearing should be removed from below - by using a mechanical puller to protect the outer bearing race from any damage.

Important note:
1. Bearing axial clearance is set at 2mm.
2. When bearing replacement becomes necessary, always renew both bearings at the same time.

Rotor Removal

Remove the rotor by removing first the rotor cover located at the top of the shaft that supports the rotor. The rotor would then be lifted up through the top of the tub.

Enough space should be maintained at the top of the tub for easy removal of the rotor and other internal parts of the DetrashPac drive block assembly.
