AgiPac 1000
AgiPac

AgiPac® 1000 a high quality machine designed to give trouble-free operation and minimum maintenance.

However, certain precautions and procedures must be observed in handling, installing, operating and servicing the unit in order to obtain optimum performance. The information in this manual should cover most situations. Should questions arise that are not covered in this booklet, additional information can be obtained by contacting H. T. Engineering Works.

SERIAL NUMBERS

All AgiPac® 1000 have assigned SERIAL NUMBERS. This identifying number will be found stamped into the nameplates which are attached to the AgiPac® 1000. They will also appear on the certified drawings that you receive pertaining to your particular machine.

Since all records for each AgiPac® 1000 are compiled under its identifying number, ALWAYS STATE SERIAL NUMBERS as well as size and type of unit when inquiring about service or maintenance problems.

RENEWAL PARTS

TOP

Orders for renewal parts should state the serial number and include the item number, description and part drawing number as shown on the parts list of the certified drawings.

SAFETY PRECAUTION

To PREVENT ACCIDENTAL STARTING while the AgiPac® 1000 is being serviced, follow your prescribed safety procedures.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The AgiPac® 1000 is a high intensity agitator that maintain stock uniformity and consistency inside the chest.

Induced by the rotating action of the rotor, the furnish is drawn upward and thrown inward against the chest wall as it strikes the rotor blades.

Components of AgiPac® 1000

Rotor

The AgiPac® 1000 rotor is made of 3-vane stainless steel blade mounted at the end of the horizontal drive shaft by a special stainless steel hub and bolted to the side of the chest.

Packing Gland

TOP

A high technology dry packing gland based on the use of mechanical sealing compound TomPac® is used in the packing chamber. Based on non-compression technology, this special packing provides better sealing than the conventional braid packing usually supplied.

Bearings / Bearing Housings

The bearing housing containing the well-sized bearings and drive shaft is supported by a solid carbon steel support rigidly attached to the civil foundation.

Drive

The drive is designed to support a V-Belt drive system with pulleys, and V-Belt.

INSTALLATION

Foundation Bolts

The customer is to furnish all foundation bolts and piping etc. Refer to specification and certified drawings for listing of parts being supplied by H. T. Engineering Works.

The certified drawing shows the foundation bolt size and pitches. It is recommended that foundation bolts be set in suitable sized pockets.

Leveling and Alignment

Install the AgiPac® 1000 by lowering it with the foundation bolts attached to the base such that the bolts enter the prepared pockets.

Leveling blocks should be placed in position and the machine approximately leveled before the foundation bolts are finally grouted.

DO NOT complete the grouting of the machine at this stage until the machine has been finally leveled.

Allow sufficient time for the grout around the foundation bolts to set before accurately aligning and leveling the machine. Check that all foundation bolts are correctly tightened, machine aligned and leveled. If these are satisfactory, proceed with grouting the machine.

Drive

Mount the motor on the motor support (if motor was not supplied with the unit). Install the pulley on the motor shaft and align it with the pulley on the AgiPac® 1000 drive shaft. Assemble the v-belts and adjust for proper tension.

CAUTION: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN BELTS AS THIS MAY REDUCE BELT LIFE AND CAUSE PREMATURE BEARING FAILURE

Lubrication

The bearing housings have been filled with grease at the factory. However, this may have settled prior to installation, therefore it is recommended that 15 - 20 stokes of grease be pumped into the bearing housings before starting the unit.

Rotor Clearance

TOP

Make sure that the bolt, which holds the rotor cover to the drive shaft, is tight.Check the distance between the rotor blade and the chest wall, this would be 800mm.

Rotation

While the chest is empty, jog the motor to check the rotation. The rotor should turn clockwise when viewed from the top and from the drive side.

OPERATION

Before Start-up

Check the stock chest for absence of foreign material like rags, tools, etc.

Flush out stock chest using clean water.

Check for drive and driven pulley alignment and V-belt tension.

Check for correct motor rotation.

Check all lubrications.

Normal Start-up Sequence

a.) Open the sealing water line.

b.) Start AgiPac® 1000 drive motor.

Normal Shutdown Sequence

a.) Stop the AgiPac® 1000 drive motor.

b.) Close the sealing water line valve.

SUGGESTED SPARE PARTS FOR MILL STOCKROOM

When ordering spare parts, it is always best to take information from the certified prints. In this way, you can be certain that you are ordering the exact part you want.
